Dudsbury Guide Camp

Picture
Dudsbury is beautifully situated five miles to the north of Bournemouth off the Christchurch – Wimborne Road (BS3073) Map Ref OS sheet 179 077979).

The property of fifteen acres comprises of one large field and a smaller one known as Annes Meadow and has two fully equipped heated buildings to provide indoor facilities for uniformed groups and occasional school/private hire.
We have two un-equipped camp sites available and camping equipment available to hire.  Outside toilets and showers are available along with solid shelter.

There is a Wardens Cottage on site and visitors should report there on arrival. The entrance does not provide access for very large coaches which should be off-loaded at the gate. A trolley is available from the Wardens. A car park on site is provided for site users cars and their visitors only.

The site is well wooded lying mainly within an ancient Celtic hill fort, overlooking the River Stour and close to the Stour Valley Way that leads to the ancient port of Hengistbury Head. We have a roundhouse and heritage activities available on site. The wooded slopes afford excellent opportunities for woodcraft activities and there is a Campfire Circle set in the shelter of the Rings. The river which is deep, swift and dangerous in places, cannot be used for bathing but there is sea bathing on Bournemouth’s sandy beaches and an indoor pool at nearby Pelhams.
We are in easy reach of Brownsea Island - the home of Scouting and many wonderful sites of Jurassic Dorset.

We are open throughout the year.
